Indiana's Worker Safety Initiative
INSafe
Free Safety and Health Consultative and Training Services for Indiana Small Businesses.
INSafe provides essential safety information and training to Hoosier employers and employees towards reducing and ultimately eliminating preventable workplace injuries and fatalities. INSafe is a resource for Indiana's small businesses. INSafe is here to provide information to all working Hoosiers. Hoosier worker health and safety is our bottom line. INsafe is an excellent tool for Indiana small business in any industry. INSafe's focus is on the construction and manufacturing industry, however, INSafe will honor safety and hygiene consultation requests from businesses in nearly any industry or trade. It is the goal of INSafe to assist employers in becoming self-sufficient in the implementation of safety and health programs. INSafe is flexible, and INSafe will work around any employer's schedule to determine consultation evaluation periods that will least impact the operation of your business. INSafe provides free technical assistance and expertise.
Small Hoosier employers may set up a long-term cooperative relationship with INSafe through participation in INSHARP. The Process- INSafe provides free onsite evaluations primarily in three distinct areas; construction safety, industrial safety, and industrial hygiene. Consultations are initiated by voluntary requests.
Businesses can request wall-to-wall evaluations and/or review of specific safety and/or health issues or programs. INSafe Consultants work with Safety Directors and workplace management to determine a fair 'correction of hazardî schedule. INSafe strongly encourages 100 percent employee participation. Workplace safety and health is everyone's responsibility. Consultation requests are initiated by completing the INSafe Consultation Request Form. This form is available online at: www.in.gov/labor/insafe. INSafe offers numerous safety and health training opportunities throughout the State of Indiana. INSafe partners with many organizations, trade, and business associations to offer these training sessions as well. The training and educational seminar information is frequently updated and is available online. INSafe on the Web- Indiana's employers, employees, trade groups, and associations can access and download all safety and training materials via the internet. Hoosier employers can also access the online event, training, and seminar calendar via the INSafe website. INSafe is available online in Spanish, INSafe is committed to offering consultative services and training courses in Spanish. INSafe operates independently of the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA). Information obtained during the course of an INSafe consultation remains confidential, barring that employees are not in imminent danger. INSafe does not assess penalties or fines. Instead INSafe offers programs and services that educate and assist employers in compliance.
